Packing Smart for a Long-Haul Flight

February 26, 2026 ยท 4 min read

Traveler packing for a trip

Long-haul flights test your comfort in ways short trips don't. A little planning around what goes in your carry-on can make the hours pass much more easily.

Pack for the climate on both ends

Cabins can run cold regardless of your destination's weather, so a light layer or scarf is worth the space in your bag, even if you're headed somewhere warm.

Keep essentials within reach

Travel documents, medication, a phone charger, and any valuables should stay in your carry-on rather than checked luggage, in case of delays or lost bags.

Plan for the time zone shift

If you're crossing several time zones, consider adjusting your sleep schedule a little before you travel, and try to match meals and rest to your destination's time once on board.
